Design
Ordering and delivery process by Coolblue was, as is now known, very smooth and friendly. Tip from the delivery person to leave the box intact and keep it for a while if the TV needs to be exchanged. Unpacking was a bit more difficult, because you actually have to do that with two people, if you want to be careful. The legs are easy to click under, place and connect the TV and you go through the installation process automatically and fairly quickly. I went from 32" TV of over 10 years old to 43". A big improvement and yet not too big a black screen in your living room. Image quality is beautiful and although this type is 50hz, it doesn't bother me. A big advantage for me personally and the decisive factor to buy this TV and not, for example, the x85j of 100 hz, is that the 80j has an IPS (ADS) panel type. As a result, the viewing angle is much larger than the almost standard VA panels nowadays (certainly in 43"). Please note: with the x80j series, only the 50" variant seems to have a VA panel type. With VA, the viewing angle is smaller, but the black values are better. For me personally, viewing angle is more important than blackness of the image. In the store I was able to see the comparison and then the choice for IPS panel was not difficult! Sound is also fine for the regular TV viewer. I also like the design of the x80j better than other series from Sony. the 80j may have a slightly thicker edge around the screen (a few mm), but the edge has a nice matt finish and sleek straight. The 85j shines and has a corner, so that dust will be more visible. This also looked cheaper (plastic). The legs also have a nice matte finish and feel very solid. Thanks to the built-in chromecast, you can cast immediately. Remote control is ok. However, the buttons are a bit small and the number keys are at the top instead of at the bottom, which would have been nicer. I'm still missing a button to quickly zap to the previous channel, but maybe I haven't discovered it yet. I am curious how long the remote control will last, but that is mainly due to the small (vulnerable?) buttons. As far as software is concerned, it is still being discovered. I find the process of adding apps a bit tricky, but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. And you don't often do that once they're installed. Voice calls are well monitored. Also a nice feature! So far very happy with it.

The Sony X80J 55" Smart TV (Google TV) shows what Sony stands for. The set-up process went without problems and is even easy for a layman to go through. The remote control is neat and clear. The power adapter is built into the TV This saves space behind your TV cabinet. The legs of the TV are easy to install, but I prefer mounting it on the wall. If you leave the TV on its legs, it tilts back a bit. My first impression of the design of this TV is that it looks cheap, not something I'm used to from Sony.
First of all, I was amazed at the image that was conjured up even with SD channels. A huge difference with the previous Sony that was already 5 years old. Thanks to the Motionflow XR, the picture quality of this TV is so beautiful and you can enjoy smooth and sharp details, even with fast-moving images. In a word breathtaking. Together with the Dolby Vision which brings the scenes to life and Dolby Atmos which provides the room with surround sound, it is like being in your own cinema. You're not watching a movie, you're in the middle of it.
I always thought the image of my old Sony TV was perfect, but live TV in 4k really takes it a step further and to think that this is not yet in HDR. With TRILUMINOS PRO™ and 4K HDR Processor X1™, more than a billion colors come to life and you can definitely see it. Enjoy lifelike colors. Everything is an experience and so intense, really beautiful. For HDR content, we went to look at some Netflix series and Disney + series. We were amazed at what we got to see. I even found the maximum brightness a bit too high. I have therefore set this a bit lower, because at night the bright areas in a film are otherwise too bright.
I have paired my Google Assistant device for hands-free TV control. But personally I think this service doesn't work very well. You have to record short sentences for it to work. But this is nice but not important to me.
Streaming movies from my iPhone is so easy with the Chromecast built into the TV. Without compromising on quality, you can cast your favorite videos, games and apps from your mobile to the TV with the Chromecast built-in.
All in all, this TV is highly recommended.
