According to our dock for laptops expert
With this dock, you can only connect one 4K monitor to your laptop.
Connect accessories such as a mouse, keyboard, or hard drive to this docking station.
You can use stable wired internet via the Ethernet port of this docking station.
You can't connect more than 1 monitor at the same time to this dock.
Because this dock doesn't have a 3.5mm connector, you can't connect headphones or speakers.
The Satechi USB-C On-the-Go Multiport Adapter Space Gray functions on all Windows laptops, MacBook models, and Chromebook models with a USB-C port which sends a video signal. This is how you can check if your laptop has a suitable USB-C port.
Normally when I go abroad with my nice laptop, but without an Ethernet port, I take an extensive docking station with me. That is quite a weight including adapter. If you want to travel 'light', however, it is useful if you can easily expand the ports that you miss on your laptop with a block of electronics that does not require a separate power adapter. This offers quite a lot of connections, apart from the high purchase price. Anyway, it works and my bag is no longer so full when packing.

We bought this adapter because the adapter would support 4K screens with 60Hz. The adapter looks nice and robust. It's also nice that a long and a short USB-C cable is included. Unfortunately, on a MacBook Air M1 and a MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro, the adapter only worked at 4k at 30Hz. We tried the adapter with both a Dell 4K and an LG 4K monitor.
Both monitors work fine at 4k at 60Hz when connected directly to the MacBooks (via HDMI on the Pro or a DisplayPort USB-C Alt-mode cable on the Pro and Air).
Satechi's support couldn't help us either. Other people on the internet are reporting the same problem with this adapter on Intel and M1 Macs. Fortunately, we were able to return the adapter thanks to CoolBlue's excellent service.
