According to our IP camera expert
Thanks to the built-in spot light, no one can walk into your house or garden unnoticed.
Your information and footage are stored in the EU, which is good for your privacy.
With the 160-degree viewing angle, you can monitor a larger part of your home or garden than with similar cameras.
You need an Arlo Secure subscription to store video footage and watch it later.
You need a good WiFi signal where you install the camera, you can create a strong WiFi network near your camera with a WiFi extender.
I've had the Arlo Pro 4 IP Camera for a few weeks and was absolutely satisfied. In contrast to its predecessor, you no longer need a base station, so you can use the cameras completely wirelessly.
My first impression was very positive. You feel like you have a quality item in your hands when you open the package. The booklets direct me to the app, which will help me further in the installation. I indicate in the app which WiFi network I use, after which the cameras scan my app with a QR code. The cameras are also directly connected to the internet. 1 camera did not connect at once. After a few tries this worked.
After setup, I easily put the cameras in place, or hang them with the supplied magnetic mounting bracket. In the Arlo app I set the cameras as desired. It took me some time to find my way around this app, but after a few days I know the way to the main functions. This is also the moment when you realize how much you can do with these IP cameras.
This is how I set up smart notifications. I didn't want to receive notifications from random passers-by. I set up the cameras so that he only noticed the area directly in front of my front door, so he didn't record unnecessarily. I also chose the option: recognize package deliverers. For example, I automatically received a notification when a package arrived at the door.
I myself had some trouble with the battery life. Arlo gives an average battery life of 6 months, but I didn't seem to get it. With the right settings, such as turning on geofencing, you will be on the right track. To reach these 6 months you will have to dive a little deeper into the settings.
In the end, the most important thing is of course the image, and in my opinion that is the best point of the Arlo Pro 4. Thanks to the 2K image quality and HDR support, you can see every detail, even if it is a bit further away. In addition, the viewing angle of 160 degrees was very impressive. All in all, I was very pleased with this product, and after extensive testing I would recommend it to people looking for a serious quality camera that allows them to adjust the settings exactly to their own liking.

I purchased and configured an Arlo Pro 4 about 6 weeks ago and am satisfied. I opted for this device because it is a completely wireless solution. The first few days you are of course quite active with the camera and then it requires a relatively large amount of the battery, an autonomy of 6 months is certainly fiction. After a few days and once set as desired, the consumption of the battery decreases, but even then you will never get to 6 months in my opinion. No problem though, I bought the solar panel in the second phase and this is definitely a nice to have. A few hours of sun per month are enough to keep the battery sufficiently charged, and let's say a few hours of sun per month, we do have that. The image quality is good, the Arlo app and the web interface are also good and the use is intuitive. Alarm detection with schedule and configured zone work flawlessly with no fake alarms due to wind (moving plants) and or sun. The camera recognizes which type of alarm it concerns, Vehicle, animal, person or other. You can then set that you do not want alerts for animals, for example, but that does not seem to work. (this is also discussed on Arlo's support site). This means that every night I have a few alerts from passing cats, for example, where these alerts may not be really necessary, so I can't filter it out. But this isn't really a big deal to me. What I certainly also appreciate is the ability to view the camera images, live and recorded images via a browser on my Ubuntu laptop. (this is not so easy with cameras from other manufacturers). Magnetic attachment is flexible, simple and sufficiently powerful, ie the camera will hang neatly here, even with winds of 80 km / h. There is also an option to attach the camera with a screw thread, for example in case of stormy winds at the sea, to have it a bit more sturdy. Price quality is definitely good. There is also a price to store the images in the Cloud. You obviously need a relatively stable WIFI signal, which is a requirement for all IP cameras.

Was known, but it's a shame that you need a subscription or extra device for many options.
