According to our doorbell expert
Thanks to dual-band WiFi, the chance of internet connection issues is very small.
With a motion sensor of 1.5 to 9 meters, you'll receive a notification via the app, even in the dark.
You can set up the doorbell using the existing wiring as well as wirelessly.
You'll need a strong WiFi signal near your front door to use this doorbell, so consider getting a WiFi extender to create a strong WiFi network.
It's only possible to store and share footage if you also get a Ring Protect subscription.
With the Ring Video Doorbell 3, you'll be in direct contact with people on your doorstep regardless of your location. You can place this smart doorbell wirelessly at the front door or connect it to the existing wiring. Do you use it wirelessly? Just easily remove the battery when it needs to be charged. When someone walks by or rings the doorbell, you'll receive a notification on your phone. You can communicate with visitors via the Ring app. The close-up motion sensor of the Ring 3 can be set up to 1.5m in front of your door. Since the doorbell uses dual-band WiFi, the signal fades less quickly than with other Ring doorbells. The Full HD image quality with night vision means you'll always see what goes on at your doorstep.
Note: you need a Ring Protect subscription if you want to view recorded footage or use person detection. This costs € 3,99 per month.
Pff, so you really shouldn't start here if you don't have patience and are not technical.
The installation is not easy at all. It starts with the warning that you need a transformer while you have no idea where it should be.
Then, after charging, you will install the app. Well, be patient. You have to create an account on his American. And then you need to set up multi-factor authentication. While you're fiddling with your phone, you'll have to switch between apps for those codes. Very clumsy, and total nonsense. Let me decide if I turn on MFA. You will receive an email in your mailbox for everything you do. So much that you can't see the forest for the trees. Very user-friendly....not.
Adding other users is not easy either. The Ring.com site is typically American. Hope blah, blah and endless references, but substantive info: never mind.
Can you set the number of times the ring rings? Can not be found. Can you see who is at the door without answering? Can not be found. Want to get in touch? Only by phone.
Regret the purchase? Oh well, the thing does what it's supposed to do. If you take the transformer whining for granted. Have an electrician install it, that's what Ring advises. Just find one. And it makes your Ring twice as expensive.
If you are not that handy, have little patience, don't start. I myself am a very advanced PC user, but the lack of user-friendliness irritates me immensely. You have to share your location (why?), the code scans poorly, and the Ring.com site is slow.

I am satisfied with the operation of the app and the doorbell. I also linked my husband to the doorbell. However, he only receives signals 3 minutes later, as a result of which he misses packages and people have already arrived for a long time. It's advertised that you should be able to connect friends and family, but I really don't see how you can make that happen successfully. The motion sensor is also very sensitive. So all local residents who walk dogs are featured in my screen. It would be great if you could make some sort of demarcation so that you can determine for yourself how far the sensor reaches.
