Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Sony E-mount

With the Sigma 18-50 mm f/2.8 DC DN on my Sony A6100 body, I can shoot undisturbed all day long. When I take street photos, I prefer not to stand out. That is why I like to take a small and compact lens with me on the road. Sometimes I feel like my hands are too big for this lens, but that hasn't caused any problems yet. I've taken street photos in the city with this lens and it's only resulted in sharp photos.

Compact lens I went for a walk with the Sigma 18-50 mm f/2.8 on my camera. This compact setup hung around my neck all the time, but because of the low weight I didn't notice it much. I also like that you don't attract attention with this compact lens. This allows you to shoot undisturbed.

Zoom in and focus In addition to the compact size, what immediately struck me was the quality of the zoom ring. It feels sturdy and luxurious. Zooming in and out is easy by turning the ring. While turning, I felt a slight resistance. I like that very much, because it prevents the lens from accidentally zooming in or out if you accidentally tap the zoom ring. The focus ring has less resistance, so you have to pay more attention when you focus manually.

Depth of Field A big advantage of this lens is the aperture of f/2.8. In my photos I like to work with depth of field. If I set this lens to f/2.8, I get sharp photos with a pleasant background blur. I think it produces great results, especially with portraits. And of course it also makes the lens bright, so that I can continue shooting in the evening without any problems.

Zoom range I use this 18-50mm for many types of photography, including street photography and portraits. Due to the crop factor of my A6100, the lens feels slightly less wide at 18mm, while at 50mm it brings the subject a little closer again. I do think it's an advantage that the image is barely distorted at 18mm, so I can make tight compositions on the street.

Nice all-round lens. quite small for an 18-50 zoom lesson and also f2.8 for beautiful photos/videos.

Just no lens stabilization. If you only take photos or have ibis, that is of course no problem or hardly in my experience.

Combination with Sony a6000 is perfect! Compact and sharp!
