According to our light-based hair removal device expert
The skin sensor reads the skin and suggests a suitable light intensity, so you can always use the right settings.
With 400,000 light flashes, the light-based hair removal device lasts years.
With the small window of the precision attachment, you can also easily remove hair from your face and bikini line.
You only use the light-based hair removal device wired, so you're always connected to a socket.
The device isn't suitable for use on dark brown or black skin.
With the Braun Silk-expert Pro 5 PL5124, you'll keep unwanted hairs away for the next 20 years. This light-based hair removal device has 400,000 light flashes, so it'll last for years. The skin sensor continually monitors the treatment from your skin. The device automatically adjusts the light intensity for the best result for you. You can easily give a clean shave to the to be treated parts of your body or face with the included Venus razor. For the sensitive parts of the body, you can use the precision attachment. This way, you'll reach every spot. Smoothly shaved legs on vacation? Comfortably take your IPL device with you in the storage pouch. The hardened exterior prevents damage during the journey. Note: light-based hair removal works based on the contrast between your hair and skin tone. This means most devices don't work on black skin and the devices aren't suitable to remove gray, white, or red hair.
Note: an IPL device isn't suitable when you're pregnant, take certain medication, or have freckles. Read the manual before use to check if this device is suitable for you.
A pleasant and painless way of hair removal. You can see a difference after just one treatment. You just have to be careful not to flash the same piece too often, because it can smell burnt. I do recommend multiple attachments for hard-to-reach places.
The appearance When starting up this IPL machine, the first thing that strikes me is the design. It fits nicely in my hand, because it is slightly curved. Furthermore, the design looks luxurious. What also strikes me is that it is very light. This makes hair removal easier. I also think that the gold accents on the machine give it a luxurious look.
Using the IPL After turning on the machine you immediately hear the fan, which I find quite loud. The device heats up very quickly, so you can start almost immediately. Very handy, giving yourself an IPL treatment takes quite a long time. During hair removal, I first let the skin sensor do its job. It detects whether the contrast between your skin and your hair is sufficient, so that you can use the IPL. Once it's done, I'll start flashing piece by piece. The flashes are quite bright, so I made sure not to look straight into them while waxing. At the beginning, I often chose the lightest intensity. I was afraid it might hurt, but it wasn't too bad for me. It's more like a tapping feeling on your skin.
Light intensity During hair removal I sometimes switched between the 3 different light intensities. Sometimes I felt like nothing was happening. Positioning the IPL in difficult places, such as your armpits, is sometimes a bit of a struggle. When I use the maximum intensity, it sometimes smells a bit like burnt hair. I then flashed several times in the same spot, causing the hairs to burn. I am also very satisfied with the results of the IPL. I notice that hairs stay away longer than normal and that you really prevent ingrown hairs with light hair removal. I noticed a difference from my first treatment. My hair came back less quickly and in a lesser amount.

Between 4 and 12 weeks you should see results with weekly consistent use. Then you can blot the frequency. I was a bit impatient but after 7 weeks the less stiff hairs are completely gone. You will see the stiffer hairs come back less quickly and to a lesser extent. So maybe stay there until the 13th week. Consistent weekly use is therefore key!! It is painless on dry and well-shaven areas. If it is not dry enough after a shower, it can be sensitive. No body lotion for use!

After 4 weeks I'm already starting to see results here and there. So it really works. Doing it every week is the message. I am curious what the result will be after a year.
