I was not 100% sure that I could log in completely passwordless using Face-ID (with Lastpass), but it works! After correctly setting up Lastpass (in my case it went automatically because I already used Touch-ID on the old iPad) you only have to log in to a site or app once; after that it works automatically through Face ID.
