According to our studio microphone expert
This microphone mainly picks up sound from the front, which makes it ideal for streaming, podcasts, or voice-overs.
With the included pop tripod, you can easily place this microphone on your desk.
The UNITY software ensures that you have all your audio channels in 1 overview and adjust them to your liking.
A microphone arm isn't included.
The RodeX XCM-50 is a good streaming microphone for the novice streamer who doesn't have much space. The box contains the microphone, USB cable and a tripod stand. I can easily connect the microphone to my laptop or PC via the USB cable
Handy format This is a compact streaming microphone, which I really like. I don't have much room for a large microphone myself, so I don't lose too much space on my desk. In combination with a microphone arm, the microphone is not in the way at all and I can easily slide it away when I am not using the microphone. Even if you don't have a microphone arm, you can use the included tripod so that you can still place the microphone somewhere. Also useful if you make podcasts in places without a desk or microphone arm.
Recordings This is a cardioid streaming microphone, which means that the sound is recorded from the front. I noticed this right away while using it. If I'm not in front of it or turn my head while talking, you'll clearly hear that I'm not close to the microphone. This in itself is not a problem if you talk straight into the microphone, but not if you sit a little further away from it, you will hear this clearly.
RodeX Unify software Like most streaming microphones, this microphone also comes with software. You can use this for free when purchasing a RodeX product, which is nice if you still want to fine-tune your sound. I must say that setting up the Unify software is not easy. There are different profiles and channels you can add. You must adjust or set the system settings so that you record all sounds correctly.
Are you looking for a compact streaming microphone that records your voice well and clearly? Then the RodeX XCM-50 is a good microphone for a flying start to your streaming career.

Very good quality for a third of the price compared to brand microphones. I use it now for podcasting and I am very happy with it!

I wanted a microphone that would allow me to record my voice without all the background noise. This microphone does exactly that - my voice is clearly audible and background noise is barely to almost inaudible. The microphone only records the sound that comes from directly in front, so you can record the right sounds. Very easy to assemble. The microphone is quite light and not too big, so it is also handy and easy to move. The tripod kept slipping, but this was easily solved by placing a cloth underneath it. Unfortunately, the microphone only came with a USB-C to USB-C cable and my computer only has USB-A outputs, so I had to buy a separate cable for that.
In short, a solid microphone with fairly good sound quality for a relatively cheap price. Highly recommended.
