Alecto DVM-200M

We have had the Alecto Baby Monitor for a week now and we are very happy with it. The baby monitor has a beautiful design and a large and clear screen. What I really like is that the baby monitor is easy to operate via the screen. For example, you can set the camera remotely (right-left, top-bottom) and you can also zoom in. There is a talk-back function on the baby monitor, easy to say something to our daughter via the baby monitor when she has trouble falling asleep.

The temperature of the room is also displayed on the screen, especially with these warm months very nice. The range is fine, we sit in the garden with the baby monitor while our daughter is upstairs and can keep an eye on everything. What makes this baby monitor extra nice is that you can connect multiple cameras to 1 screen (up to 4 cameras). The only downside is that the battery runs out after about 3 to 4 hours. This is quite fast for the quality of this camera. We are also very happy with our purchase!

Before that I had a Motorola for which expansion sets were no longer available. So looking for a new baby monitor to which multiple cameras could be connected. I wanted a simple baby monitor without internet/app with any potential risks. Finally ended up with this Alecto. Been using for a few months now. Overall, I'm happy with it, but we still have a kind of complicated relationship.

To begin with: the device is quite simple to use. Pairing cameras is easy. You can link up to 4 cameras. Cameras are available separately, as far as I'm concerned, that's just a requirement if you're developing such a feature (I'm looking at you, Motorola.....). You can then manually view one camera on the parent unit, view an overview of all (up to 4) cameras or let the system rotate between all cameras. You can also turn off the screen so that you only have sound, where the image turns on with sound.

Here are a few of Alecto's mistakes: when you view all the cameras on one screen, you have no sound from the baby monitors. Image only. It does have an alarm function that should indicate whether (one of) your child(ren) is crying, but with us it actually always gives an alarm. Even if the children are just sleeping peacefully in a quiet room. Very annoying and therefore unusable.

So we use the other function, in which the parent unit always rotates between all cameras. That works well, with the caveat that you can't actually turn off the screen properly in this function (it always switches on again) and that it always gives bright flashes when switching between cameras. Not so bad during the day and evening, but very annoying at night and the parent unit is usually with the screen down. It transmits sound well in this mode.

In addition, we have now had a number of times, when switching the system on or off, that it crashes. It cannot be turned off except by removing the battery. Very annoying. Luckily it doesn't happen often (happened 3 times in a few months) and I haven't seen it happen once it's on, so I'm not worried about it happening "just like that".

The parent unit looks nice when you take it out of the box, but scratches very quickly. After a few months of careful use (do not drop it, etc.) the screen is still covered in scratches. Where it comes from is a mystery to me, but it's just a plastic front, so not very durable.

All in all an OK thing. Video is quite good, even at night thanks to the infrared function. Being able to rotate/correct the camera remotely is really a luxury feature that sometimes comes in handy. But with the negatives in mind, maybe I should have looked further. For someone else, who does not find these negatives so important, it is recommended.

Can see almost his entire room with the camera, very nice. And easy to use.
