As a film lover, I previously had a classic Dolby 5.1 sound system for years. Because streaming services are increasingly using Dolby Atmos and my TV is also compatible with this system, after much hesitation I replaced the old system with this soundbar.
An important plus is that you can connect this soundbar with an HDMI cable to the provided HDMI port (eARC) on the TV (most stable) or wirelessly with Bluetooth.
Compared to a classic Dolby system with 5 or 7 sound channels, this is a 3.1.2 system with 3 sound channels. You would think: less sound quality?, but the innovation of this system is that the soundbar itself contains many speakers (front, side and top), so that they can take full advantage of Dolby Atmos or other systems. The fact that this soundbar comes with a subwoofer is nice and I think it is really necessary to make the heavy bass sound better.
We also recommend the Samsung SWA-9200S expansion set (also for sale at Coolblue) for the rear sound, so that, just like with a 5.1 system, you have full coverage at the front (with the soundbar and its various speakers) and at the back with 2 separate speakers that are connected wirelessly (!) to the soundbar. The latter is also the big advantage of this entire system: both the subwoofer and the two rear speakers are wirelessly connected to the soundbar. So no more cables that used to be necessary for a classic 5.1 system! In addition, the wireless system (presumably) works via Bluetooth so you can also work at greater distances. My subwoofer is 4 meters from my TV and the soundbar and rear speakers are 6 meters from the soundbar. The only (small) downside to the Samsung SWA-9200S expansion set is that although wireless contact is made with the soundbar, a classic cable still runs between the 2 rear speakers. But otherwise the system works (largely) wirelessly. So I think it is a full-fledged replacement for my old 5.1 system, which is also fully compatible with Dolby Atmos, which is actually a fantastic system for the living room and is now becoming more and more mainstream in many, if not most, major productions. streaming services (Netflix, Apple TV+, etc). But regular TV programs or a film made for the classic 5.1 system are also displayed beautifully.
Big compliment also to Coolblue who, despite the crowds (with Black Friday), delivered on Saturday after an order on Friday, so that I could immediately enjoy the weekend :)
