According to our Motorcycle navigation system expert
With the installed off-road road maps of Europe, you can drive on the most unique routes.
Thanks to the anti-glare layer on the screen, you can see your route even in bright sunlight.
On the large 6-inch screen, you can easily see your route.
You can't operate the navigation system with your voice, so you need to take your hand off the wheel to operate the navigation system.
Ride the most challenging and adventurous routes on your motorcycle with the Garmin Zumo XT2 Motor Europe. This navigation system for motorcycles has off-road maps, so you can avoid highways and go off the beaten path. You¿ll get recommended routes with beautiful views and tips from other riders. You can also create and save your own routes on the navigation system. Thanks to the free map updates, your navigation system is always up to date. You can read your route on the anti-glare 6-inch screen, even when the sun shines on it. This Zumo can handle rough conditions, because it¿s resistant to rain, mud, dust, and vibrations. Connect the Garmin Zumo XT2 to your smartphone, and receive messages and calls, and play music while you ride. The battery lasts 6 hours. Note: it doesn¿t include a charger for a wall socket. You need to buy this separately.
I bought the Zumo XT2 as an upgrade to the Zumo 590. I chose the XT2 over the slightly older XT because the screen is even brighter than the XT's screen. Route planning is also new on the XT2. This can be done on the device itself or via the new 'Tread' app. The routes are copied online from the Tread app to the XT2 and vice versa. For those who want to plan routes via the PC, there is a website explore.garmin.com. I had to learn the latter through youtube videos. This route planning is still a bit disappointing to me at the moment. Undoubtedly, Garmin will still tinker with this. After some experimentation I use the free version of the Kurviger app, after which I export the track as a gpx file and then import it into the Tread app. The device itself is solidly built, has a lot of internal memory and all map updates are included in the purchase. If desired, you can even place the maps of other parts of the world on your device. This is also included in the lifetime maps. The working time on battery - apart from the motor - is considerable, approximately 4 hours. I wonder how long the battery will last. With the Zumo 590 you could easily purchase and connect a new battery. With the XT2 it is permanently built into the device and can therefore not simply be replaced.
