The Alpine Ear Defender is a hearing protector that dampens sound up to 26 decibels. This is high compared to in ear party plugs. I'm curious to see what I notice about this in practice. Easy to take with you
The headphones are foldable and light. This makes it easy for me to take it with me when traveling. Unfortunately, Alpine does not provide a storage bag in which I store the headphones. I think this is a shame, because I often take it with me in my backpack.
High wearing comfort
When I put the headphones on, they immediately sit firmly on my head. The leather ear cushions fit snugly around my ears without feeling uncomfortable. Thanks to the weight of 249 grams, the hearing protector does not press on my head. This means I use it for several hours in a row.
Noise reduction
The headphones attenuate up to a maximum of 26 decibels. For example, if I am at a concert where the music is 90 decibels, it filters down to 64 decibels. This way I enjoy the music around me, but I hear that music muffled. The music continues to sound balanced. It also helps me have conversations with my friends. Even in a noisy football stadium I enjoy the atmosphere without any worries. I don't worry about my ears while cheering for a goal.
Office
I often use the Alpine Ear Defender in the office. I think this hearing protector is a good alternative to noise canceling headphones. Noise canceling only works well when I play music, while this hearing protector dampens a lot of noise as standard. This way I focus well on my work. Another advantage of this hearing protector is that I can hear conversations at close range. This way I know exactly when a colleague needs me.
