Philips STH7060/80

The Philips STH7060/80 quickly refreshes and dewrinkles my clothes. It is easy to use because of the large adjustable head and the included StyleMat.

When I open the box, the first thing I see is the StyleMat. The clothes steamer is rolled up in this, together with the safety glove. This way you immediately have a kind of bag to take it with you. So handy. I unpack the clothes steamer and also see the two water reservoirs. You get a small and a large one. Depending on how much you steam, you make your choice. Or you can fill them both and steam for an extra long time. I fill the large reservoir under the tap. The water reservoir clicks onto the steamer with ease. It doesn't take long for the clothes steamer to heat up. I really like this. I have a shirt with quite a few wrinkles, so I grab it.

I use the StyleMat as a surface for steaming. First on the table, so that I steam the shirt with extra pressure. The large steam head makes steaming easy, because I can steam the entire shirt with just a few movements. I also notice that a lot of steam comes out of the head, which makes wrinkles disappear quickly. I am pleasantly surprised at how neat the shirt looks after a few minutes of steaming. Thanks to the different steam settings, I can choose how much steam comes out of the device. Then I also try the StyleMat on a clothes hanger, which makes it easy to freshen up a hanging piece of clothing. Handy, hanging steaming with some extra strength. Because the head of the steamer is adjustable, I can easily adjust it. This way I steam just as well vertically as horizontally.

I try the supplied glove to give my hands extra protection while using the clothes steamer. The glove is not very comfortable, which also makes it less easy for me to steam. So I prefer to leave the glove out. If I am careful not to place the steamer too close to my hands, I do not feel the hot steam.

My experience with the Philips STH7060/80 handheld steamer was a bit mixed. Although the device has a compact design and promises to quickly remove wrinkles and freshen clothes, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

A positive point is the user-friendliness of the hand steamer. It's easy to operate, with a removable water tank that's easy to fill and provides enough steam for a session. Also notable is the device's fast warm-up time, making it ready for use in just a few moments. The compact size and lightweight design also make it convenient to take with you when traveling.

However, where the Philips handheld steamer falls short is in the power of its steam production. While the steam is sufficient for light creases and general freshening of garments, it proved difficult to tackle deeper creases effectively. This was particularly disappointing on fabrics that tend to hold stubborn wrinkles.

I bought this handheld steamer because I was curious whether I could still present myself neatly, despite my allergy to ironing boards. The handheld steamer is quite small. The steam head isn't too bad, but I didn't notice the filling reservoir at first. Compared to that of a steam iron, it seems much smaller. Luckily there are two, so if you're really diligent you can steam through for quite a long time. But then the most important question: does she do what the text promises. The steamer heats up quickly, which is nice, because “oh mom, can you iron out this blouse?” is a question that is asked at 8 o'clock in the morning, just before departure. The handheld steamer was up and running within 30 seconds, which is fast enough. Because I had already hung the blouse in question to dry, there were no strange wrinkles. The result was excellent: the blouse was smooth enough to be worn. The nylon shirt that came next also responded well to the steamy heat. What works even better, however, is using the handheld steamer to freshen up your outfit. The jacket that could use a freshening up without having to go to the dry cleaners, the dress that needs to be sold on Vinted: they all look better after using this handheld steamer. I'm happy with it.

And the ironing board? He can remain ashamed in a corner, because he has become redundant!
