Eufy Video Doorbell E340 + Chime + HomeBase 3

At first glance, the installation seemed quite simple, and I was able to install and link the doorbell and the Homebase fairly quickly via the app. However, installing the included Chime as an extra bell was no laughing matter. I even spent half an hour on the line with Coolblue's Helpdesk.

So, the correct method is:

1. Install the Homebase via the app

2. Install the Doorbell via the app and select connection to Homebase

3. Next, go to the Doorbell settings. Select "Doorbell receiver" there, then "Minibase/repeater doorbell", and install the Chime as an extra receiver from there.

4. Go to the same menu in Settings ("Minibase/repeater doorbell") again, and now activate the "Chime alert".

Now both the Homebase and the Chime will sound a chime when the doorbell is rung.

The Eufy 340 generally does what it's supposed to. However, if you want to use an existing doorbell transformer, you need to be careful. The battery in the Eufy 340 doesn't charge properly at the wrong voltage/power. This is despite the green plug shown in the app instead of a battery (when running on battery power). In our case, the battery (still) drained, even though the green plug suggested otherwise. After a long search, hidden on the Eufy website, we found: you need a transformer that supplies 16-24 volts and at least 30 VA. So, there's a good chance you'll need to replace the transformer. We found one at Gamma (Ezviz), 24 V, 30 VA for 17 euros.

The accompanying app works very badly after the last update of January 2025 and problems are still not solved early April 2025 after a new update of March. Check out the Eufy security app reviews, average 1.5 * out of 5 with 137,676 reviews. Everyone complains about this. Bad buy! Will return immediately.
