In terms of speed, battery life and charging speed, the mid-range OnePlus Nord 4 resembles a top-class smartphone. I do notice from the camera and the screen that the Nord 4 is not a top-class device.
Large device
The OnePlus Nord 4 is very large. I notice that I therefore have difficulty operating the device with one hand. I do find the large screen very nice when I read a long news article or watch videos.
Fast and powerful
I am positively surprised by the speed of the OnePlus Nord 4. Apps open lightning fast, so I never have to wait long. Even when I play a heavy game like PUBG, the Nord 4 continues to respond quickly. I did not expect that from a smartphone of this price.
Battery life of more than a day
The battery of the Nord 4 easily lasts a whole day. On some days I used the device all day long, because I had to navigate or because I was WhatsApping with friends about a football match. Even then, the battery made it to the end of the day without charging in between.
Lightning-fast charging
Where OnePlus normally supplies a charger, this is not the case with the OnePlus Nord 4. Luckily, I still had a 100-watt OnePlus charger lying around. With that, I can fully charge the device within half an hour. That's why I always leave the house with a charged battery. By the time I've finished showering and having breakfast, the battery is completely full again.
Handy alert slider
There is a so-called alert slider on the side. With this slider, I can quickly put the Nord 4 on vibrate or silent mode. So I don't have to mess around with the settings when I go to a meeting or when the movie starts in the cinema.
Automatic screen brightness does not work
For most apps, the screen is certainly sharp enough for me. I do notice that I miss some details when I play a 3D game. The brightness of the screen does bother me regularly. It is set to automatic mode, but that often doesn't work completely well. This often keeps the brightness low in bright sunlight, which means I can't see anything.
Cameras are inconsistent
With the standard lens, I take beautiful photos, in which I see a lot of details and colors. When I zoom in or use the wide-angle lens, I notice that the photos become less sharp. In addition, the colors with these lenses seem a bit duller. That's not a problem if you take a photo every now and then, but I wouldn't use the Nord 4 for my vacation photos myself.
