Disk can be used as a backup for a photo collection, for example. It can be easily taken along and can be protected with a password. The transfer speed of my copy dropped dramatically when the disk was more than half full. This is only when writing, reading continues to go well. It seems as if the disk starts to defragment itself every time files are written to it and this gets in the way of the writing process. With a few files it still goes well, but with a few hundred holiday photos, sometimes nothing is written to the disk for minutes because the thing is busy with something else.
