According to our e-reader expert
You can adjust the brightness and color temperature thanks to smartLight, which is better for your eyes.
On the water-resistant e-reader, you can read your favorite book in the pool without worries.
With wireless headphones, you can listen to audio books.
The Tolino Shine doesn't have a color display, so images and notes don't come to life as much.
It doesn't include a charger, only a charging cable.
Read your favorite books on the go with the Tolino Shine (5th generation) Black e-reader. The 6-inch e-reader is compact and light, so you can easily take it wherever you go. Thanks to the smartLight lighting, you can adjust the brightness and color temperature. For example, you can switch from a cool light in the morning to a warm light in the evening to relieve your eyes and fall asleep better. During the day, you can extend the battery life by turning off the lighting completely. And since the Tolino Shine e-reader is water-resistant, you can comfortably read at the beach or in the bath tub. Not in the mood to read? With wireless headphones, you can also listen to audio books.

I like my eReader so far, I got a "Second Chance" product in pristine condition. I also figured out that you can use the Tolino mobile app to sideload ePUBs (I use third-party no-DRM stores) and the reading progress is synced between the app and Reader. However, some files didn't open on the Tolino Shine, so I had to use calibre on my PC and convert files (interestingly enough, Tolino's app had no issues with them). My biggest gripe is limited language support. I get that it's supposed to be sold in a few EU countries, but what if you want to read smth in another language? And the embedded keyboard doesn't allow you to search for anything in another language. It's too early to say anything about battery life but, considering it runs Linux and not Android, it should be fine. If you don't like charging stuff turn the device off between reading sessions (the sleep state drains the battery a bit). I expected the screen to be a bit whiter, but it's not a deal breaker thanks to the backlight with adjustable color temperature.
