Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket NA555/00 + Double Layer Cooking Set + Master Baking Set

This is a nice airfryer with handy functions. One of these functions is steaming vegetables, this turned out very well and in my opinion there is more flavor in the vegetables than when you would boil them. The airfryer is also easy to clean because the nets and baskets can be easily removed. The only thing I do recommend is to use baking paper for the airfryer because small vegetables and fries can fall through the net. The airfryer looks nice and neat, it does stand out in the kitchen because of its size, but it is often used here at home so it is not disturbing. The size is also very nice because of the large and small basket. The fries can be fried in the large basket and the snacks can be fried in the small basket at the same time. All in all, very satisfied with this airfryer.

Over the past few weeks, we have extensively tested the Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket NA555/00 (stainless steel version). This is an Airfryer with two separate baskets and a steam function. This is now our fourth Airfryer. We started with the original model, followed by the XL (which now serves as a ‘holiday Airfryer’) and the XXL (which we keep as a reserve). Now we are ready for a more luxurious version with extra functionalities. The first thing that stands out is the sleek and modern design. Thanks to the stainless steel finish, it is a real eye-catcher in the kitchen. The appliance is quite large – about 30% wider than the XXL – so you need to have enough space for it. A handy extra is the included cable manager, with which you can neatly hide the cord. The two baskets can be used separately, but also at the same time. A handy function is the option to set both baskets so that the dishes are ready at the same time, for example fries in one and snacks in the other. In addition, the steam function offers extra versatility: you can steam vegetables or fish in one basket while frying meat or potatoes in the other. This way, you can prepare a complete meal in one go without dirtying any extra pans. In addition, the baskets and racks are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning easy. For a quick clean, you can also wipe the inside with a damp cloth (but wait until the appliance has cooled down!). Despite the advantages, there are also a few disadvantages. The effective capacity is slightly smaller than that of the XXL. For a family of six, the capacity is on the tight side, especially if you prepare fries in one basket and snacks in the other. Baking also takes a little longer than with the XXL. Where we previously had crispy fries in 25 minutes, it now takes about 30 minutes. Not very annoying, but something to keep in mind. Another point is that the baskets are no longer on a rail. In previous models you could leave the basket for a while without removing it completely from the appliance. Now it slides right out, which takes some getting used to. I noticed this when I let go of the basket and it almost fell off the counter – I just managed to grab it, but it was hot!

I was able to extensively test the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series NA555/00. I miss a printed manual and a pair of tongs to remove items, because you should not hold the baskets upside down. The preparation times on the packaging of products are also not correct. Fortunately, the digital manual does provide clear preparation times. Often longer, but with excellent results. The Airfryer is large enough for our family of 3. Due to the 2 baskets, the Airfryer clearly weighs more than a single Airfryer. Prepared various products. Panga fillet, salmon and chicken remained tender, although the time for the chicken fillet was reduced, it was cooked faster and became dry on the thinner side (I cut the thick piece of fillet to check whether it was cooked). Snacks were also tasty from the airfryer. I was able to successfully prepare all kinds of things. Sandwiches from the freezer were ready super fast and crispy. And even eggs went easily and exactly right with the indicated time in the digital manual. The potatoes were delicious and the fries were nicely coloured and crispy. The steam function is unfortunately only possible in the larger container. The prepared vegetables were very tasty, I steamed the broccoli and carrots a bit longer than indicated, I thought it was just a bit too hard. With our family of 3, everything fits well in both containers. Think with visitors or a large family, it is still a bit cramped. Cleaning is very easy, the baskets can be put in the dishwasher, but they also clean well with soapy water. Better than expected. Steam cleaning is unfortunately only possible in the large container, but works fine. Advantageous for us: Less fat than frying in a pan. Handy shake timer (beep a bit on the soft side). Can prepare multiple things at the same time. Tasty baking result. Square glass oven dish fits in... did not come out easily so the whole basket just on the table. Easy to clean. Easy to operate.
