According to our television expert
The QLED display and Mini-LED local dimming let you watch the brightest images with powerful contrast.
Thanks to the anti-reflective coating, you’ll see fewer reflections when you watch TV during the day.
Actions look smooth thanks to the 100Hz refresh rate.
The VIDAA smart platform offers a limited selection of apps.
The Hisense ULED Mini-LED U8Q (2025) is a beautiful TV with a bright and colorful QD mini-LED screen. This makes it suitable for any room. The TV also feels sturdy. I installed it without any problems. The built-in VIDAA smart platform is limited, but therefore responsive. Every button press is immediately reflected on the screen.
Realistic QD mini-LED screen The Hisense U8Q has a rich QD mini-LED screen with surprisingly beautiful dark images. Thanks to the mini-LED technology, the TV performs well in a brightly lit room, and bright scenes in a movie are realistic. The colors displayed are vibrant, no matter what I'm watching. The screen's contrast is also surprisingly high. This allows light sources to shine brightly in dark scenes. This is especially useful in series like House of the Dragon. Unfortunately, I do see a lot of reflections on the screen, especially when I'm sitting at an angle to the TV. When I start the TV, the screen is in eco mode. This reduces power consumption, but the screen is less realistic. For the best picture quality, I recommend adjusting this mode.
Sturdy design I immediately noticed that the Hisense U8Q has a sturdy design. The TV is slightly thicker than most televisions and feels reliable. This 55-inch TV also comes with a large steel stand that I attach with screws. This makes the TV stable and gives it a modern look. I find all the TV's connections on the side of the screen. If you're mounting the U8Q on a bracket, for example, you can easily connect cables without removing the TV from the bracket.
Fast smart platform The VIDAA smart platform has a more limited selection of apps than other smart platforms, but this also means the system works faster. I notice this immediately when I turn on the TV. I navigate quickly through the menu and enjoy fast loading times. The smart platform gives me access to the most popular apps and streaming services, such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, and Prime Video. Are you missing an app, such as Sky Showtime? Then I recommend a separate media player.

My first impressions of the Hisense 65U8Q were rather mixed. I had high expectations regarding the specifications, but in practice, I immediately encountered a few annoyances. For example, the TV turned itself off while watching movies from my HTPC – very frustrating. I also noticed that some bright images, such as clouds or mist in movies, displayed a kind of grainy haze that isn't typical of a modern TV of this caliber.
However, after a software update, the experience changed completely. The glitches disappeared, and the image became much more consistent. Black levels are remarkably good – something I especially appreciate with movies with lots of shadows or dark scenes. Series and documentaries also look sharp and full of contrast.
Gaming on the PS4 Pro is fine; the graphics look great, although the default brightness is very bright. This can be partially corrected, but requires some adjustments. All in all: a TV with impressive picture performance, but one that only truly reveals its potential after updates and fine-tuning.

As a family, we have been using the TV for a while now and we all think it is fantastic. You feel like you are in a cinema as soon as you turn on the TV.
From the home screen, all apps are clearly listed. You can also easily go to the "child environment" from the home screen, where they only see videos that are appropriate for their age. In addition, as a parent you can set screen time, for example, which works perfectly! The children also love the games that the TV offers.
The sound on the TV is incredibly good, which makes you feel like you are in a disco. With the AI function on the TV, it adapts effortlessly so that every sound comes out perfectly. The image also runs smoothly and quickly and also adapts, so that you always have a cinema experience. The images are tight and full of bright and beautiful colors. And if the sun is shining on the TV? No problem! It has an anti-reflection so that you retain a perfect image!
In addition, I think it is a big plus that the remote control is rechargeable, no more hassle with batteries!
