WiiM Amp Ultra Gray

I've been trying for decades to create a perfect setup (for me) at a reasonable price. I'm completely satisfied with Duevel speakers. I've had the smallest one (the Planets) for 10 years now, and despite various attempts with amplifiers, the bass foundation has remained somewhat unsatisfactory. I was already thinking about switching to the much more expensive and larger "Venus." The reviews of the Amp Ultra seemed too good to be true. But for my setup, it works perfectly. Perfect control over the speakers. Extremely sharp bass, much more "black" in the sound where it should be, and significantly better positioning. In short: an insanely good streaming amp, especially for the price.

I'm incredibly impressed with this little device.

It drives my Chario Hyper Masterpiece speakers incredibly well. Simply impressive! When I turn on the TV, the Wii U turns on immediately, and I control the volume with the TV remote. When I turn on my Apple TV, I control the volume with the Apple remote. I had an Eversolo DMP A6 Masterpiece with a Yamaha a-s701 amplifier. But this little Wii U Amp Ultra is a worthy successor! Now I just have to see how long it lasts. The Yamaha is still very good after 9 years.

The amplifier/streamer works really well with the 'straight out of the box' app. Simple setup, robust connection, stable even over mediocre WiFi.

The audio quality is excellent for the price, for Class D. As a complete amplifier, it sounds better than the Arcam Solo Uno. However, if I use it solely as a streamer via the line out and connect it to my Arcam SA10, this (most basic) amplifier sounds significantly more dynamic and musical than the Wiim. But that is a general Class D issue in my opinion...

I tested the amplifier on my Monitor Audio in-wall speakers and a set of B&M CM1 S2 speakers.

I extensively tested the room correction capabilities with the in-wall (ceiling) speakers. This works very user-friendly, and the results are better than I expected. My experiences with Dirac on other amplifiers have been much worse. I left the room correction on the Wiim on the ceiling speakers... during experiments in the past with other amplifiers, I always ended up turning it off again. Overall, this is an excellent solution if you are looking for an all-in-one streaming amplifier with excellent correction capabilities.
