I've always had Windows laptops, but since Windows 11, it's been a disaster. I came from an HP laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5600H CPU (6 cores, 12 threads), 32GB of memory, and an Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU. I'm pretty good with those things, but after every major Windows 11 update, it just got slower. Until even playing YouTube videos stuttered. Reinstalling didn't offer a solution; it was the same old hassle. I was just done with it.
Since I'm quite handy with Unix-like systems (and macOS is basically Unix under the hood), a MacBook was the logical choice. I was also reasonably familiar with macOS, so the switch wasn't a huge one. A few minor things that work just slightly differently, but actually a pretty smooth transition.
The biggest adjustment is the keyboard, which turns out to be a Dutch Qwerty variant instead of the US Qwerty variant in the photos. That was a shame...
