According to our robot lawn mower expert
Smart route with a laser: the robot uses lasers to choose the best mowing route in your garden without bumping into trees.
Recognizes small objects: the smart robot recognizes small objects and carefully drives around them.
Control it remotely: you can also control the robot lawn mower via the app when you’re not home.
Doesn't mow close to the edges: the robot doesn't mow close to the edges of your lawn.
No frost sensor: without the frost sensor, you'll have to turn off the robot lawn mower manually when it freezes.
I waited a long time before installing a robotic lawnmower for our lawn. Mainly because I didn't want boundary wires and GPS-guided robots didn't score very well in online reviews. However, due to a lack of time to mow extensively during the growing season, such a device was necessary. With the announcement of the MOVA Lidax Ultra series, it seemed as though they could deliver the perfect product, featuring Lidar, AI, and a camera on board the mower. After installation, getting the mower up and running is a breeze. Just make sure you are near Wi-Fi when performing the initial setup. In my case, the mower initially wanted to perform a firmware upgrade, but I didn't have good coverage (yet) at the location where the docking station was going to be placed. Therefore, I physically moved the mower a bit closer to my Wi-Fi point first, so that we could immediately start setting up the mowing area after the firmware upgrade. Setting the mowing area can be done fully automatically or by manually driving the mower along the edges of your lawn using the app. Just like driving a remote-controlled car. Once you have fully mapped out the lawn, you can then set up many things in the app, including restricted areas, zones, and paths. Additionally, the app offers many options to automate your robotic mower, separately for each configured zone. Our lawn consists of two separate sections connected by a gravel path. I was initially apprehensive about whether the mower would handle this well, but it turns out that driving over a gravel path to another zone is no problem. We do have a honeycomb mat under the gravel, by the way; I don't know how that works with 'loose' gravel. A major advantage is the minimal noise level; you practically hear no sound when it is mowing. That is also nice for the neighbors if you are mowing at least twice a week in the summer. Also fun is the surveillance function, which you can activate, for example, when you are on vacation; the mower then takes photos when it detects people and sends them via the app. You can, of course, turn this off as well. The mowing result is very good; it mows neatly in straight lines at the angle you set. However, it can also make criss-cross rounds if you prefer. So far, it hasn't gotten stuck anywhere and handles tricky corners in the garden smartly, for example near a playground. All in all, I am very satisfied with this mower. I cannot comment on durability yet, but the build quality is certainly robust.

After a few years of experience with robotic lawnmowers, I can finally make a fair comparison.
Since you are apparently not allowed to mention other companies in reviews, I will keep it civil. Let’s just say that I was once a customer of a startup that initially went by the name “Toby”… and later suddenly became “Yves.” Pure coincidence, of course.
The promises were impressive, though: no boundary wire, fully visually controlled, AI-driven, safe for children and pets, mowing perfectly right up to the edges, and expandable with extra features. On paper, it sounded like the future.
In reality, it turned out to be mostly a lot of promising and little delivering. Only a limited number of those functions worked, and what did work often only worked halfway. Ultimately, a serious incident even occurred with that robot, which completely shattered my trust.
After much effort, I was able to return the device and recover a large part of my investment.
Apparently, you can try to solve a lot with a name change… except the basics.
Why am I telling you this? Because the contrast with my new robot is truly enormous.
The MOVA LIDAX Ultra 800 simply does exactly what it promises.
Everything just feels finished. No marketing stories, no half-solutions, but a product that does what it is supposed to do.
Honestly? This is the level I expected years ago.
Still hesitating? This one simply does what it is supposed to do. And ultimately, that is the only thing that counts.

A very nice and pleasant robot with many setting options via the app or the robot itself. It has a built-in alarm system where the robot blocks and emits an alarm when it is picked up. You can set the mowing direction yourself. In short: very satisfied with its performance.
