I was looking for a way to make vacuuming and mopping more efficient. With the PencilWash, you essentially have one device that performs both tasks simultaneously. That makes a big difference in daily cleaning.
What stands out immediately is how compact and easy to handle. The grip is very narrow and light, making the device comfortable to hold. Moreover, it feels even lighter during cleaning because the rotating mop head propels the machine forward slightly. As a result, you hardly have to push.
The performance on hard floors is very good. Laminate, PVC, and tiles become visibly clean, and the floor feels fresh afterwards. You can clearly see how much dirt is collected in the reservoir. The device can handle an area of around 100 square meters before needing to recharge, which is more than enough for my home.
A major advantage, in my opinion, is that you can clean under furniture effortlessly. The head can tilt far, allowing you to reach under sofas or low cabinets. These are normally places that are quickly overlooked.
The device is also pleasant to use in terms of noise. Instead of the familiar loud vacuuming noise, you mainly hear the roller spinning. This allows you to clean without it becoming disturbingly loud.
I found the Dyson app to be a good addition. Instead of an extensive paper manual, you get clear instructions and short videos showing how everything works. That makes learning how to use the device much easier.
There are, however, a few minor points to keep in mind. Filling and emptying the water reservoir requires some practice at first, as everything is built quite compactly. Additionally, some extra water may occasionally be left behind on the floor if you use a higher setting.
After cleaning, you also need to briefly maintain the device: dispose of the dirty water and let the roller dry. That takes a little more effort than putting a regular vacuum cleaner away immediately, but it does keep the system clean and fresh.
For me, the convenience of vacuuming and mopping at the same time far outweighs these minor drawbacks.
