Philips Skylight Daylight Lamp VitaUp Large

Unfortunately, my Philips VitaUp was delivered defective. After drilling 10 holes in my plasterboard ceiling for the frame and connecting the wiring, the lamp unit slid into the brackets with great difficulty. After countless attempts, all four of them were finally seated correctly. My dismay was great when it turned out that the lamp produced more noise than light when I switched it on. The brighter I turned the light, the more buzzing I heard; it sounded like a swarm of bees. So I contacted Philips with essentially the same message and made a video of it. The representative spontaneously suggested an exchange for another unit, but because this lamp had just been released, it had not yet been released for separate shipment. Eventually, it did arrive yesterday and the unit was exchanged. And it is quiet, what a relief. The Vitamin D effect is of course not noticeable yet, so we will take that as a matter of note for the time being, but it is a really beautiful lamp. It is easy to set up to mimic the progression of the day, and when you look at the lamp, it really is just like looking through a skylight at a cloudless sky. The shadow effect is also very realistic. The whole thing provides a natural-feeling light, and that is exactly why I chose this lamp. You have to program the remote control (read the description!), but then it works perfectly. The packaging is made entirely of paper and cardboard, so it is fully recyclable. It doesn't earn an extra star, but an excess of plastic could have deducted one. The lamp hangs above our dining table, where the children also often play with puzzles or Lego, so good lighting is a must. I have added some photos, but I actually have to say that they don't do the lamp justice; the effect of the "sun and shadow side" is much better and more beautifully visible in real life than in my photos. Would I recommend it? Yes, absolutely. However, the design does need to match the rest of your decor.

That is, until I saw that Philips was releasing this 'skylight' lamp. I knew immediately: we have to get this. The lamp comes with handy safety rails. Thanks to this system, installation is surprisingly simple and perfectly doable on your own. My husband and I love to cook, and we have a large eat-in kitchen. However, because it faces north, it can get quite dark. This lamp is a real game changer for us: it creates the perfect illusion of natural daylight and makes the entire kitchen wonderfully bright. I suspect we will enjoy it even more in the winter. Especially on those dark days, this lamp gives you the feeling that you are simply standing in the sunshine. So far, we are really super happy with this skylight. Highly recommended for anyone with a dark house!

Wow, I didn't know what to expect from this; a huge box, and what comes out of it? A beautiful, good-quality lamp, solidly made as you would expect from Philips, and what light it emits. Installation was surprisingly quick and clearly indicated. There are even 2 safety cables included that you can install. After installation, the fun can begin. It really is like looking outside, the blue sky surrounded by white clouds. The remote control is nice and very flat, yet clear. I am definitely going to enjoy this. A minor downside is that you cannot pair the lamp with your other Philips lighting products.
