GoPro MISSION 1 Pro Grip Edition

The GoPro Mission 1 Pro is a sturdy action camera for cinematic action shots. The Grip Edition features a grip that makes longer shooting sessions much more comfortable. With the grip in hand, the Mission 1 Pro feels somewhat like a compact camera, but with fewer physical buttons. However, this does mean I have to scroll through menus more often to adjust my settings and zoom in, which is less convenient for spontaneous shots such as street photos.

High image quality I capture sharp 8K footage with the Mission 1 Pro. What I find special about this camera is that I record in 8K Open Gate. This means the camera uses the full image sensor and captures more information, allowing me to crop my videos to the 9:16 aspect ratio for Instagram Reels or TikTok without loss of quality. I mainly film videos for my social media channels in 4K at 60 frames per second, because this takes up less memory. I think it's cool that when I film in 4K at 240 frames per second, I can later slow down my footage by more than 8x to create slow-motion action shots. The small details of my surroundings, such as loose blades of grass and the grooves of buildings, remain clearly visible, which is impressive. The colors in my videos look natural, allowing me to choose during post-production whether to make the colors warmer or cooler. This is not possible with all action cameras. Sometimes, for example, the color green looks brighter, and you remove this during post-production. This is not the case with the Mission 1 Pro.

Clear night footage The Mission 1 Pro has a 1-inch sensor. This sensor captures a lot of light, allowing me to record clear footage in the evening. When I film in the dark, I don't see any noise in the images. For example, I film my urban environment and don't notice any color distortions in the dark parts of my video. If I turn on Low Light mode, the camera adjusts the brightness of the image. This gives my footage a cinematic look. For example, this makes the sky appear dark blue instead of black, allowing stars to be seen more clearly. I enjoy using this feature because I like capturing atmospheric shots of my surroundings in the evening. This function is useful for someone who films frequently during night drives or walks.

Extensive recording functions Versatility is important to me in an action camera. I enjoy experimenting with the videos I make, and I feel that this works well with the GoPro Mission 1 Pro. I choose from various recording modes, such as Low Light, Slow Mo, Sport POV, and Timelapse. I film clear night footage with Low Light, capture smooth slow motion footage with Slow Mo, and film videos from my own perspective with Sport POV. The Sport POV function also works well for vlogs where you film while in motion. This makes it feel to the viewer as if they are walking through the environment themselves. Timelapse is a feature I hadn't worked with much before, but I use it to capture beautifully sped-up footage of my urban environment. User-friendly GoPro Quik app I quickly edit the footage I record with the GoPro Mission 1 Pro in the GoPro Quik app on my smartphone. I like using the Auto Edit function, where the software automatically edits my videos. This allows me to share them quickly on my social media channels. If you prefer to edit your videos yourself, you can also do so via the app. You can easily crop them, adjust the colors, and add music.
