Marshall Stockwell III BT Black

The Marshall Stockwell III is a nice and handy speaker. I enjoy clear sound while cooking or studying. With the included strap, I can easily take the speaker with me. Unfortunately, the sound sounds a bit tinny at higher volumes.

Loud sound It is a small speaker, but the volume can go very high. When I turn the volume up to three-quarters, I can hear the music well in my living room and open kitchen. Because the sound comes from the front and back of the speaker, it distributes the sound well. This means it doesn't matter where I stand, because I can hear the music well everywhere. The high, mid, and bass tones sound balanced. Even when I set the bass stronger than the treble, I still hear balanced sound. I actually find this quite pleasant, because it allows me to listen to music for a long time in a comfortable way. I mainly use the speaker for pop music. When I listen to techno or house music, it doesn't sound its best with this speaker. I also notice that the sound is less full when the volume is high. Therefore, it is best for background music while cooking or studying. Chic portable design This speaker also features the classic Marshall design. The synthetic sides and gold details give it a chic look. I like that the included strap is made of the same fabric as the speaker and has a velvet red interior. The strap makes carrying the speaker easy. For example, I take it with me to friends. However, the strap is made of a rather stiff fabric, which makes it difficult to fasten. With the rotary knobs on the top, I can easily adjust the volume, bass strength, and treble. With the M button, I switch between the two sound presets: Marshall and Bass Boost. The difference between these two settings is small, but with the Bass Boost setting, I hear slightly stronger bass tones. The difference is so small that I don't actually use this button.

Extensive app There are many possibilities in the Marshall app. For instance, I adjust the sound to my liking with the 5-band equalizer. With Placement Compensation, I indicate whether the speaker is placed close to a wall or on the edge of a surface. The speaker then adjusts the sound based on its position. Furthermore, I adjust the soundstage, which indicates how widely the speaker should spread the sound. If I reduce the width, the sound becomes tighter. With a wider soundstage, the sound is airier and extends further into the room. However, the sound with a wide soundstage is less full.
