Initially bought because I will soon have to sit on a plane for 12 hours. I've done that before without noise canceling, but then you develop a kind of tinnitus so that you still have the hum of the engines floating through your head 3 days later. So well. Go with the crowd and get the most popular noise canceling headphones. And put on my head.
Conclusion? The outside world is just too noisy and now I don't want to be without it. A tour of the supermarket? Check. Working at the office? Check. Watching Netflix on the couch while someone else watches TV? Whoops, check. You only notice how much noise there is everywhere when you place this rascal over your crown. Even if it is not switched on, you will immediately hear less ambient noise. Now I always have to turn on music when I have it on, because the echo of my own heartbeat really drives me completely crazy. That's how quiet it is. For exactly the same reason, I almost always have the noise canceling set to maximum. Quietly in my own bubble. Nice man.
The only things that bother you are sudden noises and other people's talk; All noise canceling headphones actually have trouble with that. So don't expect complete funeral silence, but more the level of a silent compartment without babbling about the weekend of Julia and Sophie who are chatting behind you. You now feel like they are 6 rows away. Makes a difference anyway.
In terms of sound quality, a small downside, because I don't find it that special compared to my airpods. Just fine. Could also be me or my taste in music. I am of course not an audiophile, but just a simple soul with a preference for a lot of bass (can be set in the app!).
Then again +10 for comfort, because this thing really doesn't weigh a damn. And as a spectacle wearer I was concerned about the pressure against my frame - and maybe that will come if you actually wear them for 12 hours - but so far I haven't had any problems with it. The cushions are quite soft. Have they thought about it at the Sony drawing board.
All in all satisfied. It may be a price that you say to yourself, but you really get that out of it with daily use. It also seems ideal for longer journeys, whether you're on the plane, in the train or in the car. You get a travel bag and thank God there is an instruction on how to fold your headphones, because we can't all be Einstein. But we can all live in silence. You just need to place an order.
