I like my eReader so far, I got a "Second Chance" product in pristine condition. I also figured out that you can use the Tolino mobile app to sideload ePUBs (I use third-party no-DRM stores) and the reading progress is synced between the app and Reader. However, some files didn't open on the Tolino Shine, so I had to use calibre on my PC and convert files (interestingly enough, Tolino's app had no issues with them).
My biggest gripe is limited language support. I get that it's supposed to be sold in a few EU countries, but what if you want to read smth in another language? And the embedded keyboard doesn't allow you to search for anything in another language.
It's too early to say anything about battery life but, considering it runs Linux and not Android, it should be fine. If you don't like charging stuff turn the device off between reading sessions (the sleep state drains the battery a bit).
I expected the screen to be a bit whiter, but it's not a deal breaker thanks to the backlight with adjustable color temperature.
