Expert review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
In July 2025, Samsung presented the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This foldable smartphone has a striking design and the outer screen is larger than its predecessor. I got to test the Flip 7 for a short time. In this review, I'll tell you my first impression of this device.
First impression
What I notice right away is the new outer screen. The screen on the outside is larger, so I can read notifications easily or take a selfie without opening the device. The Flip 7 still opens and closes smoothly. The device feels sturdy, despite the foldable screen. There's no charger included in the box, you have to buy this separately.
Fast and smoothly
The Samsung Z Flip 7 is superfast. Apps start right away and I can switch smoothly between Instagram and YouTube, for example. Even when I open multiple apps, the device responds quickly. During gaming, I notice that everything runs smoothly. The new chip ensures good performances, without the device getting warm.
Battery that lasts the day
Where I had to get my charger halfway through the day with the previous Flip, the Flip 7 easily lasts until the evening. Even during a busy day with lots of messaging and taking photos. That's quite a large improvement. You notice that the new Flip has improved in terms of energy consumption and battery life.
Handy cameras for on the go
I like to take selfies with the rear camera, because it's sharper than the selfie camera on the inside. Thanks to the large outer screen, I can see myself clearly in the frame before I take a photo. Also fun: I put the device half open on the table, pose, and use a hand gesture to take the photo. That's ideal when I'm alone or want to take a photo with friends.
Larger and more useful outer screen
The 4.1-inch outer screen got quite a bit larger. That way, I can read notifications quickly or use widgets, without opening the phone. That's useful when I'm on the go. I also think taking photos and watching videos is more comfortable on the larger screen. You can still see the fold in the middle of the screen a bit, but this doesn't bother me during use.
Conclusion
Looking for a striking smartphone that you can easily take with you? The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a good choice. On the go, I use the larger outer screen to check notification or watch a video. I take sharp selfies with the main camera and see myself right away on the small screen. the battery lasts a whole day, which is comfortable. You only notice the lack of a telephoto lens when you want to zoom in far.
