In 1978, James Dyson got frustrated by the reducing performance of his vacuum. He disassembled the vacuum and discovered that the bag was clogged with dust, which reduced the suction power. Could this be done differently, he thought? He went to work. About 5 years and 5127 prototypes later, he'd invented the world's first bagless vacuum.
