According to our cutting machine expert
Use more than 300 materials for your designs.
There are 13 tools for cutting, writing, folding, engraving, and more, so you have even more options.
With a cutting speed of 20cm/s, the Cricut Maker 3 cuts two times faster than its predecessor.
The higher speed of the Cricut Maker 3 only works with smart materials.
With the Cricut Maker 3, you can make endless creations. From wall decorations to personalized T-shirts and jewelry. You can cut into up to 300 different materials, such as leather and balsa wood. Do you use Cricut Smart Materials? Cut into these materials 2 times faster than into other materials. You can make cuts up to 3.6m long and 33cm wide. The Cricut Maker 3 works with 13 different tools, which you can purchase separately. In addition to cutting and writing, you can also engrave with this cutting machine. The debossing tool allows you to make an imprint on your material. In addition, you can create a tear-off edge in your card or cardboard with the perforation tool. And with the wavy blade, you can add a nice finish to your design.
You can create your designs with the free Design Space software. Cricut Design Space is the design program by Cricut. A couple of ready-made projects are available for free. Want access to thousands of ready-made projects, images, and fonts? You need a paid subscription with Cricut Access. Or, upload a free design from the internet. You can use the canvas and create your own design with various shapes. Cricut Design Space guides you through your entire project.
The Cricut is a great device (physically) but the software is made for people who have zero knowledge of cutting machines, etc. The program always forces you through the same steps. If you select certain fonts you suddenly have to pay money, after active deselection of the fonts you no longer see them. You have to upload ALL your design to the cloud before you can process it. This device with its software seems to be made to make you dependent on the manufacturer.
Unfortunately I can no longer return the product. The machine is not really bad but you do feel vender locked at Cricut.
I may be the wrong target audience for this machine.

It's true that it is a great device. You can do a lot with the device and I am very satisfied with it. I want to report not only positive things but also negatives. I find it quite intense that the Cricut subscription is 10 euros per month. You already pay 600 euros for equipment and materials, but they also want to squeeze money out of you for life. It's not like you get a new program every month. Because of this I would not recommend any cricuit device for personal use. However, if you need it for work, then that thing is great and you can get it done. But I wouldn't buy a Cricut machine for a few Christmas cards every year.

Design space is easy to install/work with. A little more material is allowed for free to practice with, especially with such an expensive device. you now only get black.
