I bought this A9+ to replace its predecessor, the A8. It is a clear evolution, not a revolution, but nevertheless worth the effort. I had the "minimum model" of the A8 (32GB storage and 3GB RAM), then this model with four times as much storage and almost three times as much RAM is really much better. The Snapdragon chipset is also much better than the Tiger T618 of the A8, even though it is still somewhat of a budget chip. The screen is slightly larger and smoother at 90hz, but that was already very good and is now even better.
This tablet is very fast and smooth in just about everything, although I still wouldn't recommend gaming on it (this really depends on the games you want to play, of course). Compared to a more expensive tablet that I have had in the meantime, the difference in speed for most tasks is minimal, despite the fact that it has a much faster chip. The composition of this tablet is therefore very smart and ideal for me personally.
The presence of a MicroSD slot is also a huge advantage compared to other tablets that lack it. It is also important to me as a hobby photographer that Samsung has by far the best Gallery app of all Android tablets. Even in the Play Store, all alternatives are less good.
The design is still very solid, and comparable to the previous generation. The edges are clearly present, so you can hold the tablet well, but the design is still very modern. I also think that is an optimal choice.
It is also important that this tablet receives updates until at least January 2029, so more than 5 years (as stated on Samsung's own site). That is extremely long for an Android tablet.
The only thing that could have been better is the battery, which is still quite small. Of course, the chip in the A9+ is a lot more economical than in the previous generation, but its more expensive brother, the S9 (FE), does have a bit more capacity. We think there must be a difference. In practice, the battery life seems fine so far.
As a former owner of the Galaxy Tab A7, A7 Lite and A8, in my opinion this is by far the best "compromise" Samsung has made so far at this price level. The build and image quality have always been excellent, but now it's also a very smooth experience. I am really very satisfied with this tablet.
