You can take a MiFi router everywhere. That way, you're always connected to fast internet. The connection with a MiFi router is also a lot safer than your smartphone hotspot or the WiFi in a cafe. You need a SIM card with a MiFi data plan for a MiFi router. You can choose a data plan for Europe or worldwide.

4G + 5G: suitable for residential areas
4G and 5G MiFi routers have a built-in SIM card. You have to buy this SIM card yourself. You can take data plan like the phone plan you have for wireless internet on your smartphone. Check well if the SIM card works in the country you're going to. A 4G or 5G MiFi router doesn't always have a connection everywhere. In remote areas, you sometimes don't have signal, even with your smartphone.
Satellite: internet in remote areas
Satellite receivers like Starlink are suitable for remote areas. You aim the receiver at a Starlink satellite to receive wireless internet. You choose a Starlink satellite receiver if you live far away from civilization or are at sea. Starlink satellite receiver are often more difficult to take with you and are larger than a standard MiFi router.
Where do you use the MiFi router?
For in your car
WiFi in the car is useful for your navigation. That way, you always know what the fastest route is. Your passengers can also use the fast internet of your router. Your children can watch videos on the back seat or your partner can put on some music via a smartphone. Make sure your data plan works everywhere you're driving.
For the campsite
A MiFi router is ideal for rainy evenings on the campsite. Or if you want to make sure you can be reached for emails or texts. Your connection is a lot safer with a MiFi router than via the WiFi of your campsite. Want tow watch a series or movie in the evening? Choose a 5G MiFi router, so you don't have long loading times.

What SIM card do I need?
You need a micro or nano SIM card. In the manual of your MiFi router, you can find exactly what SIM card you need. In addition, you need a special MiFi data plan. This is a different data plan than the phone plan of your smartphone. The SIM card for your phone doesn't work in your MiFi router.
What's the difference between a MiFi router and a standard router?
A standard router only works with an internet cable. A MiFi router works with mobile data, such as 4G or 5G. You don't need a connector, only a SIM card with data.
How many devices can I connect to a MiFi router at the same time?
That differs per model. You can use between 5 and 20 devices at the same time in most cases. Check the specifications of the device well.
Does a MiFi router work in a foreign country?
Yes, most MiFi router work in a foreign country. Note: you need a SIM card that works in that country. And check if your MiFi router supports the correct frequencies.
Can I use a MiFi router for internet at home?
Yes, that's possible. For example, you temporarily don't have internet at home. Keep in mind that a MiFi router is often less stable than a fixed internet connection. For daily use at home, we recommend a standard router.
How long does a MiFi router battery last?
That differs per model. Most MiFi routers last 6 to 12 hours with a fully-charged battery. You can also use some models during charging.
