The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is a complete action camera for the sports enthusiast. It has a sturdy attachment and the image quality is high. Unfortunately, I do not film in an 8:7 aspect ratio, which means I cannot cut vertical images from my horizontal recordings without loss of quality.
Adventure Combo
I personally use the Adventure Combo, which includes a tripod, extra batteries and a charging hub. I find this useful when I take the action camera on holiday. I charge all batteries at the same time with the charging hub. The tripod is also useful when I want to film myself or from a high position. Before I use the action cam, I place the magnetic attachment underneath. I can only attach it in one way. I feel whether the magnet is securely attached and I can hardly get it to move. This gives me confidence that the action camera will not simply fall off during sports.
Good image stabilization
I think the image stabilization of the Action 5 Pro is very good. The stabilization has 2 modes: daily and sport. When I walk outside with my dog, I test the sports mode. I put the action camera on the tripod and walk in front of my dog, with the camera low above the ground. This way I film my dog running after the camera. The images I make this way look smooth and stable.
Clear image quality
It is already getting dark outside during the testing and I notice that the image quality of the action camera remains very good. Due to the high dynamic range, the camera shows very light parts and dark shadows in detail. The low sun shines in, while the living room is dark. The camera does not have much trouble with this. My recordings look sharp. I film in 4K resolution. When I take photos, I do so with 40 megapixels. This produces detailed photos. I think it is a pity that the camera does not film in an 8:7 aspect ratio. With this ratio I can easily get horizontal and vertical images from one recording without loss of quality, for example for my social media accounts. Now I have to take both a portrait and a landscape shot if I want both.
47 GB internal memory
I think the 47 GB internal memory is an advantage of the Action 5 Pro. I am someone who regularly forgets to take a spare memory card with me. That is not a problem with this action camera. The operation of the camera is not complicated. When I turn on the action camera, text balloons appear on the screen that explain the settings. This is handy, because I immediately know where to find the most important settings. The operation works the same as with most action cameras.
