How do you place the water filter in your Melitta Barista T Smart?
We'll give you a step-by-step explanation on how to place your water filter in your Melitta Barista T Smart. If you replace the water filter every 2 months, you prevent limescale buildup in the pipes of your coffee machine. If you use a water filter, you only have to descale your coffee machine once per year.
Get started with the water filter
You can install the water filter in a few steps. This takes 10 minutes at most. We'll go through these steps:
- Step 1. Go to the right menu on the display
- Step 2. Place the water filter
- Step 3. Rinse the water filter
You need:
- Melitta water filter
- Container of at least 700ml
How often should you replace the water filter?
Replace the water filter of your Melitta coffee machine once every 2 months. This way, you keep your fully automatic machine in great shape, and limescale can't build up and damage your coffee machine. This way, the machine lasts a lot longer. In addition, the coffee will also taste great.

Step 1: set up the machine
- Press the 'menu/ok' button for 2 seconds to open the menu.
- Go to 'maintenance' with the arrow buttons, and press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
- Go to 'filter' with the arrow buttons and press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
- Go to 'place filter' and confirm this with 'menu/ok'.
- Confirm again with 'menu/ok'.
- Remove the water tank from the machine.
Step 2: set up the water filter
- Take the water filter and click in onto the included attachment.
- Twist the water filter in the water tank, and remove the attachment from the water filter.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water up to 'max' and place it back in the coffee machine.
- Place a container of at least 700ml under the coffee outlet.
- Press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
- The machine now rinses with water and stops automatically dispensing water.
- Remove the container.
- The machine is ready for use again.
