We'll give you a step-by-step explanation on how to place your water filter in your Melitta Barista T Smart. If you replace the water filter every 2 months, you prevent limescale buildup in the pipes of your coffee machine. If you use a water filter, you only have to descale your coffee machine once per year.

Get started with the water filter

You can install the water filter in a few steps. This takes 10 minutes at most. We'll go through these steps:

  • Step 1. Go to the right menu on the display
  • Step 2. Place the water filter
  • Step 3. Rinse the water filter

You need:

  • Melitta water filter
  • Container of at least 700ml

How often should you replace the water filter?

Set up the machine

Step 1: set up the machine

  1. Press the 'menu/ok' button for 2 seconds to open the menu.
  2. Go to 'maintenance' with the arrow buttons, and press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
  3. Go to 'filter' with the arrow buttons and press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
  4. Go to 'place filter' and confirm this with 'menu/ok'.
  5. Confirm again with 'menu/ok'.
  6. Remove the water tank from the machine.
Twist the water filter into the water tank

Step 2: set up the water filter

  1. Take the water filter and click in onto the included attachment.
  2. Twist the water filter in the water tank, and remove the attachment from the water filter.
  3. Fill the water tank with fresh water up to 'max' and place it back in the coffee machine.
  4. Place a container of at least 700ml under the coffee outlet.
  5. Press 'menu/ok' to confirm this.
  6. The machine now rinses with water and stops automatically dispensing water.
  7. Remove the container.
  8. The machine is ready for use again.
