Type of modem routers
Fiberglass
Fiber optics is the fastest connection. You can use a fiber optics cable or SFP cable for that kind of subscription. FRITZ!Box fiber routers have a port for this.
Cable
Cable subscriptions are the most common. You connect these cables via a UTP port. FRITZ! cable modems have an incoming port for this.
DSL
DSL has become less common. Other subscriptions are faster, so switching might be better. FRITZ! DSL routers are suitable.

What's the difference between fiber optics, DSL, and cable internet?
Fiber optics is the fastest and most stable internet connection, because the signal is transmitted via light. Cable internet uses the TV cable and is often faster than DSL. With DSL, the signal runs via the telephone line. This is suitable for browsing, working from home, and streaming in HD.
What's the difference between WiFi 5, WiFi 6, and WiFi 7?
WiFi 5 is the older standard and enough for simple browsing. WiFi 6 is faster and more stable if many devices are online at the same time. WiFi 7 offers the highest speeds and best stability for applications like 4K streaming, cloud gaming, or large backups.
How do I recognize which internet connection I have?
A look at the connection box shows you which technology you have. The DSL line uses the TAE socket with 3 narrow, vertical slots. Cable internet runs via the multimedia screen of the TV with 2 or 3 round connectors. With a fiber optics connection, there's a small white box on the wall. It has a special fiber optics port and a network connector for the router.
