How do you degrease your Melitta Barista T Smart?
Degrease your Melitta Barista T Smart once every 2 months. That way, you can prevent defects and blockage. You remove coffee oil rests from the pipes of your coffee machine with a cleaning tablet. In this article, we'll explain how you can do this.

Make sure the brew group is cleaned before you start.
How often should you degrease?
Clean your Melitta every 2 months or when the coffee machine indicates it's time to do so. Use the Melitta cleaning tablets for this. With these tablets, you rinse all the pipes of your coffee machine clean, so that coffee residues and fats disappear. This way, you can keep your Melitta coffee machine in good condition.

Step 1: prepare the cleaning
- Turn on the coffee machine with the 'On/off' button.
- Remove the water tank from the coffee machine and fill it up to 'Max' with water.
- Place the full water tank back in the coffee machine.
- The coffee machine will rinse briefly.
- Place a 700ml container under the coffee outlet.
- Press 'Menu/ok'.
- Press and hold 'Menu/ok' for 2 seconds and navigate to 'maintenance'. Confirm your choice with 'Menu/ok'.
- Select 'Clean the coffee system' and confirm with 'Menu/ok'.
- Press 'Menu/ok' again.
Step 2: run the cleaning program
- Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container, and empty and replace both.
- Press 'Menu/ok'.
- Place a cleaning tablet in the ground coffee compartment on top of the machine.
- The machine starts cleaning right away.
- When the machine has finished rinsing, remove the container.
- Also remove the drip tray and the coffee grounds container from the coffee machine.
- Empty the container, drip tray, and coffee grounds container. Then put them back again.
Step 3: rinse the machine
- Press 'Menu/ok'.
- The coffee machine will now rinse at short intervals.
- When the machine has finished rinsing, remove the container.
- Also remove the drip tray and the coffee grounds container from the coffee machine.
- Empty the container, drip tray, and coffee grounds container. Then only replace the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- Press 'Menu/ok'.
- The coffee machine has now finished cleaning.
