How can you insure your product?
On the product page, you can see which Protection Plans we have for your product. You can choose one in your shopping cart. You always purchase a Protection Plan at the same time as the product you want to insure. You can't take out a Protection Plan afterward.
What are the Terms and Conditions of my insurance?
You can find the Terms and Conditions on the product page of the product. Did you already take out an insurance? You can also find the Terms and Conditions in the email you received from us when you took out the insurance.
Which Protection Plans can I choose from?
You can find all insurances that we provide for that product on the product page of your chosen product.
What am I insured against with a Protection Plan?
Below, you can find an overview of the most important parts that are covered. In the Terms and Conditions, you can find a complete overview. You can find these on the product page of the products. Did you already take out an insurance? You can also find the Terms and Conditions in the email you received from us when you took out the insurance.
Fall damage and impact damage Did you accidentally drop your product or bump it into something? We'll make sure it gets repaired. Does your device have scratches and dents, but does it work well? The insurance doesn't cover this damage.
Water damage Water damage is caused by contact with moisture, like rain or a glass of water. You're insured for all kinds of water damage.
Manufacturing errors outside the warranty After your standard warranty ends, your product is still insured against manufacturing errors. You're also covered for damage that doesn't fall under the standard warranty.
Theft Was your product stolen and do you have an insurance with theft insurance? You'll receive CoolblueCredit from us, so you can choose a new product.
What am I not insured against with a Protection Plan?
Among other things, you're not insured against:
- Manufacturing errors that fall under the warranty. We'll repair those free of charge and you don't need an insurance for that.
- Damage that doesn't have any consequences for the operation of the insured device, like dents, scratches, and damage to the finish.
- Damage to or malfunctions of the insured device that can be fixed by cleaning, like accumulated dust and obstructions.
- Damage to hardware that was built in later on, or newly bought hardware that's no longer in its original state.
- Consequential loss: damage not directly suffered by the equipment. For example, if your washing machine breaks and water that leaks out damages your floor. This damage isn't covered by the insurance. You can use your home or household insurance for this.
- Damage by unintentional loss, like forgetting or letting the insured device lie around.

Will the warranty of the Protection Plan be added to the standard 2-year warranty?
You get a standard 2-year warranty on your purchase from us. With a Protection Plan, you can extend this to maximum 5 years (3 extra years) total.
In addition, you're insured against damage that isn't covered by the warranty during this entire time (like accidents, water damage, fall damage, or impact damage) when you have a Protection Plan.
Example
- Protection Plan 3 years = Standard 2-year warranty + 1 year extra warranty
- Protection Plan 5 years = Standard 2-year warranty + 3 years extra warranty

I have a content insurance, do I still need a Protection Plan?
That depends. Did your product break due to a flood, fire, or storm? A content insurance is usually enough. But this isn't the case when the damage is caused by manufacturing errors, unintentional misuse, or theft. What damages Coolblue pays the repair costs for depends on which Protection Plan you choose.
What's the difference between the standard warranty and Protection Plans?
You can also cover the costs that fall outside of the standard warranty with a Protection Plan. Each product you buy at Coolblue has a standard warranty of at least 2 years. If the product doesn't work properly during this period, we'll repair it for free or give you a replacement product.
If you choose a Protection Plan, you extend the standard warranty with a few years. That means you have the right to a free repair or replacement model for longer if your product doesn't work. You're also insured against fall damage, impact damage, water damage, manufacturing errors, and damage due to unintentional misuse. These coverages go into effect at the same time as the standard warranty. You can also choose theft coverage.
Do I pay a deductible?
No, you don't pay a deductible
Does the insurance also cover damage abroad?
Yes. Damages that occur abroad are covered by the insurance.
